From Bangkok's grand palaces to Krabi's emerald coves — every corner of Thailand has a story.
Planning a trip to Thailand? Good choice — it's one of the easiest international trips for Indian travellers, and once you've been, you'll understand why so many people go back for seconds. Here's a simple, no-nonsense guide to help you plan.
Thailand has three seasons, but honestly, only one matters if you're picking dates: November to February. This is when the weather is at its best — dry, breezy, and not too hot. March to May gets properly hot, so it's only worth it if you're chasing off-season prices and don't mind sweating a bit. June to October is monsoon season — some islands get choppy seas and boat trips get cancelled, so we'd avoid this unless you're flexible with plans. If you had to remember one line: book November to February if you can, and always double-check monsoon dates for islands like Krabi before locking in a trip during the rainy months.
This depends on what you want to see, but here's a rough shape that works for most first-timers: 2-3 days in Bangkok for temples, markets, food and a river cruise; 2-3 days in Pattaya for beaches and a day trip to Coral Island; and, if you have the time, 2-3 more days in Phuket or Krabi for proper beach and island time. A 5-6 night trip covers Bangkok and Pattaya comfortably without feeling rushed. If you can stretch to 8-9 nights, adding Phuket or Krabi gives you a nice mix of city and beach — we wouldn't recommend cramming all four into anything under 8 nights, since you'll spend more time in transit than actually enjoying the place.
Direct flights from Delhi to Bangkok take around 3.5-4 hours, which makes this one of the quickest international trips you can plan on a long weekend. If Phuket is on your list, direct flights run about 4-4.5 hours, though many travellers still route through Bangkok and take a short domestic hop, since flight options are more frequent that way. Either way, you're looking at a same-day arrival with no painful layovers — one of the reasons a Thailand trip from Delhi works so well for first-time international travellers.
This is the part everyone worries about, and the Thailand visa for Indians is actually one of the easiest to get. As of current rules, Indian travellers can visit Thailand visa-free for up to 30 days for tourism. That said, rules do change from time to time, so it's worth double-checking closer to your travel date, or letting your travel agent confirm it when you book. You'll still need a passport valid for at least 6 months from your travel date, a return flight ticket, and proof of accommodation for your stay. If you're booking through an agency, they'll usually handle all of this paperwork for you, so you don't have to chase documents yourself.
Thailand is genuinely budget-friendly. Street food meals cost as little as ₹100-150, and even mid-range restaurants won't dent your wallet much. Hotels range widely — from around ₹2,000 a night for a decent 3-star to ₹8,000+ for beachfront luxury in Phuket. Carry a mix of cash (Thai Baht) and cards; most city hotels and restaurants take cards easily, but smaller markets and street stalls are usually cash-only.
Thailand works well whether you're going on a honeymoon, a family trip, or just a quick escape with friends. The flights from Delhi are short, the food is incredible, and there's a good mix of culture, beaches and nightlife depending on what you're looking for. If planning all this feels like a lot, that's exactly what we're here for — our Gurgaon office puts together complete Thailand packages with flights, hotels, visa help and a day-by-day itinerary, so you don't have to piece it together yourself.
