Best Time to Visit Vietnam from Delhi
Vietnam is a long, narrow country, so the weather varies a lot depending on which region you're headed to. For the north — Hanoi and Ha Long Bay — October to April is your best window, with dry air and clear skies for cruising. For central Vietnam — Da Nang and Hoi An — February to August works well, before the autumn rains set in. For the south — Ho Chi Minh City and the Mekong Delta — November to April is ideal. If you're covering the whole country in one trip, November to April overlaps well across all three regions, which is why it's peak season — book early if you're travelling in December or January.
Vietnam Itinerary: How Many Days You Need
A rough shape that works for most first-timers: 2-3 days in Hanoi for the Old Quarter, temples and street food; 2 nights on a Ha Long Bay cruise (an overnight cruise is worth the extra day); 2-3 days in Hoi An and Da Nang for lanterns, beaches and the Golden Bridge; and 2-3 days in Ho Chi Minh City for the Cu Chi Tunnels and Mekong Delta. A 7-8 night trip covers Hanoi, Ha Long Bay and Hoi An comfortably. If you want to add Ho Chi Minh City too, we'd suggest stretching to 9-10 nights — Vietnam's distances are bigger than they look on a map, and domestic flights between regions eat into your days if you rush it.
Flight Time from Delhi to Vietnam
There aren't direct non-stop flights from Delhi to Vietnam yet, so most routes connect through Bangkok, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur or Doha. Total travel time to Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City typically runs 5-7 hours including the layover. It's a bit longer than a direct Southeast Asia hop, but airlines like IndiGo, Air India, Thai Airways, Singapore Airlines and Vietnam Airlines run frequent, reliable connections, so it rarely feels like a difficult journey.
Vietnam Trip Budget from Delhi
Vietnam is genuinely affordable day-to-day. Street food meals cost as little as ₹80-150, and even sit-down restaurants rarely dent your wallet. Hotels range from around ₹2,000 a night for a solid 3-star to ₹8,000+ for a beachfront resort in Da Nang or a premium Ha Long Bay cruise cabin. Carry a mix of cash (Vietnamese Dong) and cards — hotels and city restaurants take cards easily, but markets, street food stalls and smaller towns are usually cash-only.
